As environmentally conscious citizens, MHAC has not only built the club with many green, energy saving and environmentally-friendly features, we also have an ongoing recycle commitment that can be seen throughout our daily tasks and throughout the club. Here are a few items you might not have realized we have done to do our part for planet earth!
- Recycled rubber as flooring in weight room and cardio room
- Special double insulated and reflecting windows that keep heat in and cold out
- High-efficiency lighting such as T-5’s and LED’s on photo cells that use less electricity
- Solar panels for heating the outdoor pool
- Indoor pool has a salt generator which makes the water softer on skin and suits
- We have instant, Rinnea hot water heaters that are 60% more efficient than standard water heater systems
- High-efficiency flush toilets and water saving shower heads
- 13 individual HVAC units for individual room air control for maximum comfort and efficiency
- Water recovery system to take advantage of our 9 months of rain—water captured is filtered and re-used for toilet flushing, laundry and irrigation (in the summer)
- Incoming ground water is preheated (by running pipes through sauna), thus requiring less heat to get water up to usable temperature
- Air hand-dryers in bathrooms to cut down on paper products (save the trees)
- Recycling bins throughout the club make it easy for members and staff to recycle
